Älskade hundar (Amores Perros) (2000) is a thought-provoking and emotionally charged film that weaves together the lives of disparate individuals through a tragic car accident. Set in contemporary Mexico City, the first story follows Octavio, a young man who becomes involved in dogfighting to escape his troubled life and win money to elope with his sister-in-law, Susana. However, his plans take a dark turn when a car accident leaves him tangled in a dangerous web of violence and betrayal.

In the second story, we meet Daniel, a successful magazine publisher whose life is turned upside down when the car accident renders him disabled. As he becomes more reclusive, his relationship with his wife Valeria deteriorates, pushing them to confront their unhappiness.

The final story revolves around El Chivo, a former revolutionary turned hitman living a solitary life. His encounter with the car accident brings back painful memories and forces him to reflect on his past choices.
